this makes me a happy neil. i should hopefully then have said big shiny bass amp in time for this gig!
"Animal Interrogation" on Wednesay at Carpe and it's free in. although the poster also thinks we're stoner rock so clearly it lies. our guitarist is a stoner but that doesn't make us stoner rock!
i'd update about other goings on in my life but there really aren't any that anyone would be exciting to anyone. due to enticing lots our friends to live in our street we hardly ever leave our street anymore. i am full of the dull and still watch far too much sport on the telly. but i do at least play some sport now cos wolfie's roped me in to wielding hockey sticks once a week. running about with sticks is goodly! |

i should update this to enlighten people on the joyous exciting things going on in my life. but i'm rubbish so i don't - mostly i've been playing lots of bass (got 3 bands and counting now), taken up playing hockey (all wolfie's fault), and partying like the ancient 27 year old i am
but anyways to my real reason for posting. Animal Interrogation are playing the fenton this saturday (altho without our sax/synth/cowbell player) along with Lovecraft who are fantastic chums of ours from Liverpool and local Leeds types Emergencies

and for once it has nothing to do with sport
got the news i'd been waiting for the other day that i'd passed my job interview which means i'll be an actual civil servant very shortly and not a lowly temp anymore. lovely lovely monies! was absolutely sure i'd cocked it up so it was a very pleasant surprise. (my job involves trucks - i'm not going to try and explain any more than that as i would bore everyone stupid)
played a fancy dress gig last night with Flaming Apes Head for someone's 30th birthday at Wakefield Trinity rugby club. we got our fancy dress together at the last minute in one mad rush round town which is how we ended up being transvestite zombie harry potters (as soon as i have pictures i'll post them. we look dead shexy.) and then i won some wine and brain dead on video in the raffle and rounded the night off by performing my karaoke version of "Rebel Yell". never fails to bring the house down that one
then had band practice with my new band Animal Interrogation tonight. had not been in the mood for it at all cos i wanted to stay in and watch american football (it really is dead good honest!) but then we went and had our best practice yet and now i can't wait for our gig in 8 days time. not sure how many people will be there tho cos our poster was made by a demented austrian and doesn't make any sense
it's our first ever gig and we're all dead excited. got some sexy tracks on our myspace for people to check out recorded on our shiny digital 16-track thingummy
oh yeah there is one sport related thing making me happy. don't give a crap about the england football team but have been getting quite excited by aussie rules. i've decided collingwood are my team - partly cos they were playing dead good but mostly cos their nickname is THE PIES!!! HOW GOOD IS THAT!?! |

cheers to everyone who came to leeds rios for our semi final of battle of the bands. was well good fun and loads of people came down. pics of me in various rockstar poses here but for all the people who've been asking we don't find out if we make the final til monday. then after the gig went to dust at subculture and had an amazing night of gin and dancing like a loon (gin seems to be a bit of a recurring theme at the mo). it was all of the daft and all the fun. never thought i'd enjoy dancing to limp bizkit that much again!
got a few pics from sat'dee's wedding excitement as well. apologies if anyone looks a tad stupid :) i blame the gin again. Drunken wedding reception pics here. the whole day was ace but i especially loved apatt cos they were all random and scouse. oh yeah and the huge piles of tasty food was good too!
hope this makes sense. i'm slightly distracted by chelsea losing to villa on the telly. apologies to everyone but i may be even more obsessed with footy than usual this season. if you see me dribbling with a dazed look on my face it will most likely have something to do with liverpool's latest conquest |

Flaming Apes Head in the semi finals of the battle of the bands at Leeds Rios tomorrow. Doors are at half 7 and we're on second. Gonna be rockin innit
In other news I'm having a fantastic week off work not doing very much. Feels like a half term holiday only without Why Don't You on the telly. Tonight me and Nomi are continuing in our quest to watch all the episodes of Heroes in quite a short space of time. "Save the cheerleader, save the world!" It's cheesy but we love it. |

ah yes the mighty flaming apes head did wipe the floor with the competition in our battle of the bands heat last night. even managed some cliched instrument smashing at the end! then si and our new south african "roadie" byron continued the rock star behaviour by pulling a group of girls who claimed to be 18 but were probably more like 16. twas all good fun.
thankyou to all the lovely people who came out and boogied. got some ace video with spider and wolfie dancing like crazy eejits. next gig is at leeds rios in 2 weeks on wednesday august 1st. the other band through at the mo sound like dragonforce and don't look like they've started their gcse's yet. still got to wait and see who the other 2 bands are. all the info and stuff and whatnot is at http://www.thebandbattle.co.uk/.
anyone else having serious football withdrawal issues? can't wait for the new season to start. i'm having to make do with my back-up summer sports of cricket and rugby league. and while wigan and lancashire do get me shouting at the telly it's not the same ludicrous over excitement i get with liverpool matches. less than a month to go now!
fun and excitement for this weekend involves a trip to wire for strangeways on friday. not been for ages and it's generally good for a giggle. and then on saturday it's JUVIJUVIJUVI! i love juvi me. i plan to get very drunk and make a plank out of myself. think there should be a general plan to harass the dj into playing horse the band

ZOMBIES!!!
had an ace time at Nightclub Of The Living Dead last night. then tried to go to a party afterwards but it wasn't nearly fun enough so came home for sleep
got first ever practice with my new band tomorrow (a side project if you will which has the advantage over my usual band of us all living in the same city). no idea what we're gonna sound like but it should be fun
and next week it's download! who's coming for some drinking and metal in a big field/race track? |

whoop la la whoop! tralala hey! skippidoo skippidee dah!
i'm in a dead good mood day today. partly for the reason that have just had a great party weekend - lots of silly silly people together having all the fun. must must do it more often. only problem was persuading nomi that we did actually have to leave at some point and couldn't live in claire's house forever. have got through work today with the aid of much tesco own brand fake red bull. but don't even mind work at the mo cos i'm doing a new job which is much lots better than my old one. hooray for quitting jobs! plus nomi works on the floor above me so we can keep each other company on the bus and at lunch. aren't we sickening :)
and i just got the new wildhearts album - i love how my favourite band keep reforming! just need to learn the new words now before i go see them next wednesday at leeds rios
but before that we're off to london next week for even more fun! much lots gallavanting! gonna go see 80s matchbox! all the excitement! going a bit overboard with the exclamation marks!
plus nomi's a very happy girl as caridee has won america's next top model. i try not to watch it but sometimes i just can't help myself. i should really go to bed now.
hopefully i'll still be as unbearably chirpy for the rest of the week. think it mostly depends on the result of the liverpool chelsea game on wednesday. will probably be in the royal park pub screaming at the big screen telly if anyone wants to join me |

really should communicate with people more often. rather than only posting anything up when i'm trying to make people come to gigs
have been up to lots of fun exciting things recently. especially quitting my job! really don't get paid enough for the amount of stress involved so i finish this week and then i'm off to seek my fortune!(ie temp for a bit and then try and work out some sort of career path for myself. )
wednesday played a big gig of funness. lots of people came and danced about, nomi took lots of pretty pictures which i'll try and put on the net at some point later once i've filtered out the atrocious ones, and everyone got nicely drunk. only down point for me was that no one stuck around to watch the dead class who were fookin brilliant as usual but didn't get the crowd they deserved. grrr
and now am enjoying big mega long easter weekend. went to the park yesterday and may have got too sozzled as me and nomi both fell asleep at 7 and woke up in the middle of the night feeling slightly confused. we're just about to head off to imaginary friends at subculture so nomi can get her monthly fix of dancing to silly electro. and on monday our good friends ree and sam are coming over for fun and curry. hurray for bank holidays!

p.s. come to our gig - it'll be dead good! 7.30 at joseph's well on wednesday, tickets only 4 quid if you seek me out in advance (6 if you pay on the door) but it's well worth it cos we've actually been practicing!!! and the dead class who we're playing with are fookin boss as well!

yupyupyup neil and claire's parties are all of the good. especially when you only have to walk up the stairs at the end of it to go to sleep. just wish we had a cleaner to sort out the living room. maybe we can bribe wolfie
also rather enjoyed the trip to play basketball. spider in particular had all the skills - oh yes. and we had a good game of "what's in the bag?" and learnt that wolfie shouldn't be allowed to play with games that electrocute you
only real downer was nomi being ill for the whole weekend. she's currently on the sofa with her turquoise earmuffs on to aid recovery but she was very brave throughout and even customised her tissue box with bluey-green goodness to try and make things better
